Growth habit
Petunia likes a warm and sunny environment. Not tolerant to frost, but also afraid of rain. The suitable temperature for its growth is 13~30℃, and the temperature in winter is 4~10℃. If it is lower than 4℃, plant growth will stop. It can withstand high temperatures above 35℃ in summer. During the peak growth period in summer, sufficient water is required, especially in the summer high temperature season, water should be watered in the morning and evening to keep the pot soil moist. However, during the rainy season, heavy rain is very detrimental to the growth of petunia. If the pot soil is too wet, the stems and leaves are prone to lengthen. There is more rain during the flowering period, and the flowers are easy to fade or rot. If the pot soil has accumulated water for a long time, the rotten roots will die. Therefore, potted petunia should use loose, fertile and well-drained sandy loam soil.
1. How to grow petunia
1. Prepare potting soil: Before planting morning glory, prepare suitable potting soil. The potting soil must be loose and breathable. It is recommended to use leaf-mould, garden soil and river sand to mix, so that the prepared soil has good drainage performance, which can promote plant growth more vigorously.
2. Prepare seeds: choose the seeds from our shop. High-quality seeds have a higher germination rate.
3. Flower pot planting: The planting method is very simple. Just spread the seeds on the surface of the soil. Pay attention to the spreading as evenly as possible. After spreading, do not cover the soil and expose the seeds to the air. In the later stage, water thoroughly and cover with plastic wrap to keep warm and moisturize.
4. Post-maintenance: After planting, move the potting soil to a ventilated and cool place, and do not rush into the sun. There is a cling film on it to keep it moisturizing, but it must be ventilated every day, so that it can germinate in about two weeks of management. Just wait for two or three pairs of leaves to be transplanted.
2. When is the best time to plant petunia
Petunia has strong adaptability and can be sown in spring, autumn and summer. However, if you want it to grow and bloom better, it is recommended to plant it in spring, specifically between March and April. At this time, the temperature can be maintained between 20-30°C, which can germinate faster.
