In Buddhism, the "eighteen seeds" represent the "eighteen realms", which are the six senses, six consciousness, and six dust. The "six senses" refer to the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind, and the roots have the meaning of being able to give birth to the six senses. The "Six Dust" refers to the external environment where the six senses originate, including color, sound, fragrance, taste, touch, and Dharma. It is called the Six Dust because it can stain people's hearts. The "six consciousnesses" are eye recognition, ear recognition, nose recognition, tongue recognition, body recognition, and consciousness. Buddhism believes that the six senses are tools of the six consciousnesses, with the eyes craving for color, the ears craving for sound, the nose craving for fragrance, the tongue craving for taste, the body craving for smoothness, and the mind craving for pleasure; Where there is greed, there must also be anger. Greed and anger arise from ignorance and afflictions, and together they are the three poisons of greed, anger, and delusion. Whether a person does good or evil is the result of the six roots. According to the Lotus Sutra and Nirvana Sutra, if one can obtain the purification of the six senses, they can use each other's six senses. The socalled six senses mutual use refers to any one of the six senses. All of them can have the functions of the other five senses.
