Growth environment
Sunflowers can be planted in all four seasons, with summer and winter being the main seasons. Flowering can reach more than two weeks. Sunflower varieties can be divided into "ordinary ornamental" varieties or "edible" varieties. Ordinary ornamental varieties are characterized by shorter plants, usually no more than half a meter. Therefore, it is suitable for planting in pots; for edible varieties, the plants are taller and can grow to more than 2 meters in normal open-air nursery soil. The sunflower grows rapidly, and the flowering period can last for more than two weeks. The growth of sunflower is closely related to factors such as temperature, moisture, light, and soil.
Seed
The cultivated seeds are first soaked in warm water, and then planted in the soil with the tip of the seeds facing down, and they will germinate in about 4 to 5 days.
Planting method:
Sowing directly, bury the seeds in loose soil and put them into the soil for about 3 cm. Keep the soil moist. The temperature can be planted at no lower than 8°C.
Best planting time: February to August is the best planting time for sunflowers, and the survival rate and germination rate are extremely high.
Detailed explanation of potted plants:
1. Pot soil preparation: Put nutrient soil in the pot, and then water thoroughly.
2. Sowing: Spread the seeds evenly on the surface of the soil layer, and then cover with a thin layer of nutrient soil after sowing, about not seeing the seeds, just press gently with your hands.
3. Watering: Spray with a watering can to allow the nutrient soil to fully absorb water, and do not use rapid water to prevent the seeds from being washed away.
4. Sowing period: Place in a bright and ventilated place, avoid direct sunlight; before germination, if the nutrient soil is dry, use a watering can to spray water to keep the soil moist.
5. Germination period: After germination, the seedlings should be exposed to scattered light for about 2 hours a day and placed in an environment of 18-28°C.
6. Seedling stage: The light is gradually strengthened, and the potted soil is watered to maintain the principle of "When the soil is dry, then watered through". Apply a thin fertilizer every 7-10 days. Nitrogen fertilizer is applied in the early stage to promote the growth of stems and leaves, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer are applied in the later stage to promote flowering result.
