Model 170/170HC is an automatic engine control module. The module is used to automatically start and stop the engine, indicate the operating status and fault conditions, automatically shut down the engine and indicate engine fai via LEDs on the front panel.The HGM170hc has an additional LCD hour count based on the HGM170.operateThe operation of the module is carried out by a three-position key switch mounted on the front panel, which has OFF(O), START, and AUTO positions. In the "O" position, the output is powered off.Manual operation:1. Select Run manually2. The length of time it takes to pre the warm-up on3. The "crank" output is then energized, starting the motor to run, and automatically detaching when the engine or releases the "start" on. Then start the protection hold timer.Automatic Operation:1. The will start automatically when the e start is active.Running any of the following al (shut-off on fault) will result in a power outage on the operating output: low oil preure, high engine temperature, auxiliary shutdown, overspeedThis will remove the supply from the engine and bring it to a standstill. Each alarm has its own LED indicator, and once activated, no alarm conditions will be accepted. The alarm output and aociated LEDs will remain active until the device is reset by turning the switch to the "O" position.Overspeed protectionOverspeed protection comes from: Hz output. The over-frequency circuit monitors the Hz output and will immediately shut down the engine if the preset frequency level is exceeded. This trip level is selected by the switch for 50Hz or 60Hz nominal operation (57Hz or 68Hz trip, respectively).During engine start-up and for a short period thereafter, the protection hold timer (10 seconds) is active and the aociated alarm input is disabled. This allows the engine to start and reach normal operating conditions. Once the timer exes, the input is enabled, providing normal protection for the module.Charging fai warningBy monitoring the WL terminals on the charging alternator, a charging fai warning can also be provided. It works similarly to a warning light installed in a motor vehicle, and if the output fails, the charging fai LED will illuminate.
