Characteristics of platinum: stable performance, not easy to undergo chemical changes, colorless flame color, no interference, high melting point.
The special flame color of each elements seen in the flame reaction experiment is the color of the spectral line. Therefore, when we carry out the flame reaction, we should choose the material with light flame color or no flame color as the carrier (platinum wire is available). We should not choose the material with dark color. Otherwise, it will cover the flame color and interfere with the inspection.
Platinum is a precious metal. Its chemical properties are quite stable. It is not oxidized in the air and insoluble in common acid and alkali salts. Can be used as an inert anode for pure flame color reaction. The experimental results are perfect.
